The Sapienza University of Rome, in collaboration with the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, the University of Cassino and the University of Rome Tor Vergata, announces an international workshop on piano improvisation in the 19th century, following on from the seminar on improvisation in the 18th and early 19th centuries held in Perugia in April 2024.

From 27 to 29 October 2023, the workshop Collective Improvisation and Instant Composition: 1960-2023, coordinated by Alvin Curran, Joëlle Léandre and Eddie Prévost, will be held at the Accademia Filarmonica Romana and the Sapienza Università di Roma.
The workshop is aimed at scholars and musicians who are experts in the field of real-time creative and improvisational processes.
The workshop is addressed to musicians with experience in the field of collective improvisation. The afternoon sessions – led by Alvin Curran, Joëlle Léandre and Eddie Prévost – are devoted to instrumental practice, real-time-composing and deep listening.
