An initiative of conference, workshops and concerts dedicated to piano improvisation in the 19th century, to be held at the University of Cassino, the Sapienza University of Rome and the Accademia Filarmonica Romana from 16 to 19 October 2024.
The Sapienza University of Rome, in collaboration with the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, the University of Cassino and the University of Rome Tor Vergata, announces an international workshop on piano improvisation in the 19th century, following on from the seminar on improvisation in the 18th and early 19th centuries held in Perugia in April 2024.
On Nov. 17 and 18 in Fermo e Macerata. The workshop targets individuals with expertise in real-time creative and improvisational processes, including scholars and musicians.
The workshop is aimed at scholars and musicians who are experts in the field of real-time creative and improvisational processes.
The workshop is addressed to musicians with experience in the field of collective improvisation. The afternoon sessions – led by Alvin Curran, Joëlle Léandre and Eddie Prévost – are devoted to instrumental practice, real-time-composing and deep listening.

The University of Rome "Tor Vergata" and the Conservatory "F. Morlacchi" in Perugia are organizing an international workshop on piano improvisation in the 18th and early 19th centuries from April 13 to April 15, 2023 in Perugia, Italy. The workshop is part of a research project on historical improvisation, with the participation of several universities and the Conservatory "G. Morlacchi" in Perugia. The workshop is open to pianists, fortepianists, musicians, musicologists, students, and researchers interested in historic improvisation at the keyboard.
